A blog by postgraduate students of Scandinavian studies at the universities of Basel and Zurich.
This blog is developed in the context of the MA module „Skandinavien aktuell“ by postgraduate students from the universities of Basel and Zurich. The aim is to shed light on aspects of the Scandinavian cultures from the Viking age to the 21st century, by drawing on postcolonial theories.
The topics of the posts range from medieval discourses about cross-cultural contacts with other ethnic groups like the Sami or the Skrælingar, to the establishment of colonial structures of power in the late medieval and early modern north, and up to most recent developments subsequently to the Black Lives Matter movement in the most recent past.
