A New Form of Collaboration in Cultural Anthropology: Matsutake Worlds

The article “A New Form of Collaboration in Cultural Anthropology: Matsutake Worlds” (2009) explores how collaborative research can open new possibilities for anthropology. Using the example of matsutake mushrooms, the authors examine themes such as global connections, human–nonhuman relations, and the production of knowledge. Each contributor highlights different aspects, from local contingencies like weather and insects to the transnational circulation of scientific knowledge. Together, they show how collaborative ethnography can generate fresh insights into culture, power, and the environment.
