The University of New Caledonia (UNC) is a multidisciplinary institution established in 1987 as the French University of the Pacific, then shared with French Polynesia. It became independent in 1999 and adopted its current name. As a public scientific, cultural, and professional institution, it operates under the supervision of the French Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. UNC plays a key role in supporting the development of New Caledonian youth and advancing knowledge through research and intellectual outreach.
