Positionality at the centre: constructing an epimistological and methodological approach for a western and feminist doctoral candidate conducting research in the postcolonial

Catherine Vanner develops in this article a framework for how Western feminists can conduct research in postcolonial contexts in a power-critical and ethically responsible way. Drawing on feminist standpoint theory, postcolonial theory, and constructivist grounded theory, she emphasizes situated ethics, participatory and co-constructive methods, and continuous reflexivity to minimize power asymmetries and strengthen community empowerment.
