“Lorelle Tekopiri Yakam is a Graduate Researcher in the Department of Social & Religious Studies within the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences at Divine Word University, Papua New Guinea. Her academic and research focus lies in the intersection of sustainable development, law enforcement, justice, and critical social issues affecting Papua New Guinea. These include excessive alcohol consumption, violence, teenage pregnancy, prostitution, homosexuality, sorcery, and witchcraft. With a background in social and religious studies and ongoing postgraduate training in research methodology, Ms. Yakam approaches these complex topics through an anthropological and sociological lens. Her work aims to contribute to evidence-based policy and social reform, particularly in relation to youth behavior and community resilience. Lorelle Tekopiri Yakam contributed to the INDIS (Indigenous Sustainable Development) project as part of the research team focusing on Papua New Guinea.”
