Jacob Penchansky

Jacob Penchansky is a multimedia producer, filmmaker, and sound recordist who volunteered for the Vaka Taumako Project and Vaka Valo Association from 2005 to 2018. He continues to contribute through ethnomusical recordings and video production. Jacob played a key creative role in the We, the Voyagers films, working closely with Taumako and Vaeakau communities. His radio and audio work has been featured by NPR, PRI’s The World, the Pulitzer Center, and other international platforms. He has recorded traditional musicians in over 30 countries and contributed to the Rough Guide to World Music. Jacob also directs the award-winning Mountain Music Project and oversees music education programs in Nepal, Burma, Thailand, and Bhutan.
