Voices of New Ireland: Kun and Nochi Wisdom

Voices of New Ireland: Kun and Nochi Wisdom

The project, finalized as the book Voices of New Ireland: Kun and Nochi Wisdom, emerged from a participatory action research process developed in close collaboration with the Kun and Nochi communities and in partnership with Langenia Primary School. Students, teachers, elders, and community members from the villages of Liedan, Langenia, and Lossu II were actively involved in writing and illustration workshops, contributing to the documentation of local knowledge and cultural practices. They also participated in reviewing and validating the texts and visual materials to ensure accuracy and cultural relevance.

The resulting book reflects a shared authorship grounded in intercultural dialogue and long-term engagement. Beyond its role as a publication, it also serves as a pedagogical and methodological resource for community-based research, participatory curriculum development, and decolonial approaches to education.
