Susanne Kuehling
Susanne Kuehling is a German cultural anthropologist and Professor of Anthropology at the University of Regina, Canada, where she also serves as Department Head. She specializes in matrilineal, small-scale societies with a preference for matrilocal residence, focusing particularly on communities in Melanesia and Micronesia.
Her research interests include gender, language, exchange, landscape, and the history of anthropology, grounded in long-term fieldwork on Dobu (Papua New Guinea) and Woleai (Micronesia). She collaborates with Gina Knapp and practitioners of the Kula exchange system. Her recent projects include Voices of Kula and Let’s Play Kula.
