Nuclear Disarment and the anthropocene. Voices from island countries.

The “Nuclear Disarmament and the Anthropocene” project by APLN amplifies Pacific Island voices to highlight the injustices of nuclear weapons policies and their links to climate and existential risks.

In partnership with individuals, organizations, and civil society across the region, the project aims to raise global awareness and promote shared responsibility for human and environmental security.

Key activities of the project include:

  1. Pacific Islands Creative Competition: An open call for essays (oral/written) on “Nuclear Weapons and the Climate Crisis,” with prizes for winners.

  2. Voices from the Pacific: A forum for contributors to connect and engage with the wider network.

  3. Events: Online and in-person platforms for competition winners to present their work and discuss regional challenges.

  4. Publications: Timely, policy-relevant materials, including winning submissions, aimed at a broad audience.
