Im fr\u00fchneuzeitlichen Buchdruck ist das Frontispiz ein bildlich gestaltetes Titelblatt. Auf die mittelalterliche Buchkunst \u00fcbertragen, ist damit eine meist ganzseitige Darstellung gemeint, die dem Text eines Buches oder Buchteils vorangestellt ist und dessen Inhalt bildlich zusammenfasst.
