In the present glob\u00adal sit\u00adu\u00ada\u00adtion of rad\u00adi\u00adcal trans\u00adfor\u00adma\u00adtion of land\u00adscapes and urban spaces due to last\u00ading or emer\u00adgent polit\u00adi\u00adcal, eco\u00adnom\u00adic and envi\u00adron\u00admen\u00adtal con\u00adflicts, to encounter the unavail\u00adabil\u00adi\u00adty of mate\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal and imma\u00adte\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal cul\u00adtur\u00adal her\u00aditage and its chang\u00ading val\u00adues becomes a press\u00ading task. Tran\u00adsi\u00adtions from a vio\u00adlent past are medi\u00adat\u00aded by arti\u00adfacts and cul\u00adtur\u00adal prac\u00adtices that are anchored on civ\u00adil soci\u00adety. Arts such as lit\u00ader\u00ada\u00adture, pho\u00adtog\u00adra\u00adphy, visu\u00adal arts, per\u00adfor\u00admance, sculp\u00adture, cura\u00adto\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal prac\u00adtices, archi\u00adtec\u00adture or film, have con\u00adtest\u00aded these voids, mate\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal traces and remains ever since by cre\u00adat\u00ading dis\u00adso\u00adnant nar\u00adra\u00adtives and alter\u00adna\u00adtive spaces. They have crit\u00adi\u00adcal\u00adly revis\u00adit\u00aded the con\u00adcepts of mate\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal and imma\u00adte\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal cul\u00adtur\u00adal her\u00aditage, framed main\u00adly by insti\u00adtu\u00adtion\u00adal ini\u00adtia\u00adtives, to pro\u00adtect it par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adly in regions that expe\u00adri\u00adence war, social upheavals or lack of resources for the preser\u00adva\u00adtion of mate\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal and imma\u00adte\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal col\u00adlec\u00adtions, archives, mon\u00adu\u00adments, and oth\u00ader doc\u00adu\u00adments. Arts have become crit\u00adi\u00adcal sources for civ\u00adil imag\u00adi\u00adna\u00adtions, as they address his\u00adtor\u00adi\u00adcal obliv\u00adion, regen\u00ader\u00ada\u00adtion and the unavail\u00adabil\u00adi\u00adty of cul\u00adtur\u00adal heritage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The con\u00adfer\u00adence aims to dis\u00adcuss the idea and var\u00adi\u00adous ini\u00adtia\u00adtives of mate\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal and imma\u00adte\u00adr\u00adi\u00adal cul\u00adtur\u00adal her\u00aditage and the role of the arts in under\u00adstand\u00ading decol\u00ado\u00adniz\u00ading process\u00ades in the glob\u00adal his\u00adto\u00adry, par\u00adtic\u00adu\u00adlar\u00adly in Latin Amer\u00adi\u00adca and the Mid\u00addle East, and in artic\u00adu\u00adlat\u00ading alter\u00adna\u00adtive seman\u00adtics and spaces. It brings togeth\u00ader artists, cura\u00adtors, activists, aca\u00add\u00ade\u00admics and intel\u00adlec\u00adtu\u00adals with var\u00adi\u00adous dis\u00adci\u00adpli\u00adnary back\u00adgrounds with the attempt to draw a bal\u00adance of the role of cul\u00adtur\u00adal pro\u00adduc\u00adtion in regions of transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
